John Earl (Jack) Dix (66) entered into the arms of his Savior on March 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 15, 1958, in Binghamton, New York, to the late Leland M. and Virginia A. Dix, he was the beloved husband of thirty-seven years to Carolyn H. Dix, cherished father of Danielle, Callie (Colby), Leland (Shea), and Jonathan, loving grandfather of Owen, as well as an accomplished singer and musician, deacon at his church, friend, mentor, and respected member of the Security Industry for over 40 years. While his passing was unexpected, there is comfort and peace in the knowledge that he now rejoices in heaven with his Lord and Savior. Jack developed a passion for music at a young age, with his mother teaching him harmonies before he was even old enough to go to school. His father and mother performed special music for their church’s television and radio programs, and eventually he joined his parents and siblings in singing for the church. He traveled all over the country in the late 1970’s playing bass and singing with various Christian music groups, even embarking on his own solo tours singing and playing guitar at many churches and youth meetings in the early 80’s.

He began his career in the Security Industry while living in New Orleans in the late 1970’s.There he met his future wife, Carolyn, whom he married in 1987. He served faithfully for many years as a deacon and an elder at Kempsville Chapel in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where all four of his children were born. Soon after moving to Graham, North Carolina, in 1999, he became involved in his beloved home church Grace Reformed Baptist, where he faithfully served as a deacon for many years. Among Jack’s favorite pastimes were spending quality time with loved ones, singing, playing and listening to music, gardening, drinking coffee, and making silly jokes, but above all else, Jack loved serving others. He poured wisdom and loving-kindness into everyone he met. He counseled, mentored, mediated for, and supported anyone who was in need; he faithfully lived out his testimony and proclaimed the Gospel to everyone he met. Truly Jack has entered into glory, greeted by his Savior: “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your Master.” (Matthew 25:21)

To celebrate his life and ministry, a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 3:00pm in Mebane, NC, at Grace Reformed Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Reformed Baptist Church or Bradford Academy (939 South Third St., Mebane, NC 27302).
