John Wayne Dixon

December 23, 1946 ~ January 27, 2026

John Wayne Dixon, age 79, of Columbia, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. John was born on December 23, 1946, in Boone County, Missouri to George B. Dixon and Madge Woods.

John proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service in the United States Navy, John and his family resided in Los Angeles, California before returning home to Columbia, Missouri. With his naval training in hydraulics, he worked and retired from the former Columbia location of Vickers.

You could find John watching old westerns especially Gunsmoke, entertaining family and friends, refurbishing furniture, and as an all-around handy man and house painter.

John leaves to cherish his memory; his children, LaDonya, Shawn, Jay, and Shay, his grandchildren, Denzel and DaQuan, his great grandson, Tatum, his siblings Kay Franklin, Darlene Dixon, and Michael Dixon, his trusted friend, caregiver, and former spouse, LeNeta Dixon, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Per John's wishes there will be no funeral services held.

A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, February 8 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Moss Building at 1905 Hillcrest Drive in Columbia, Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory, 12 East Ash Street, Columbia, MO 65203 (573) 449-4153. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.millardfamilychapels.com
