John F. "Jake" Dodds

John F. "Jake" Dodds, age 91, of Glen Mills, PA passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Sunrise Senior Living of Westtown, West Chester, PA. Born in Chester, PA to Edward and Esther Casey Dodds, he resided in Glen Mills for the past year, previously living in Ridley Park, PA for over 60 years. Jake served his country in the United States Marine Corps in Korea. He worked as a paper maker at Scott Paper for over 35 years prior to retiring in 1989. Jake was a longtime parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and a member of the William Rush Woodcarvers group. He enjoyed fishing, reading, antiquing, and going to the Pocono Mountains and Shady Maple. Jake was also known as an avid history buff. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, William Dodds, Sara Jane Rounds, Sandra Weaver, Donald and Larry Dodds. Jake is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Lillian Marie Ross Dodds; son, John F. "Jack" (Patricia) Dodds, Jr., grandson, John F. "Jake" Dodds, III, and siblings, Barbara Lou Agnew and Thomas Dodd. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11, from 9:30 - 10:15 AM at St. Rose Lima, 1901 Chester Pike, Eddystone, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jake's honor to the Semper Fi & America's Fund (thefund.org).
