John Charles Doherty "Doc" of Anglesea, NJ died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. He was 81.
John was the beloved husband of 56 years to Jean Keller Doherty, his soul mate.
Born in Philadelphia, PA (Crescentville) he was a son of the late Charles J., Sr. and Bertha Wink Doherty.
John was humble when it came to his service and contribution to our Country for the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime active member of the Teamsters Locals 500 and 107 and drove trucks in the Philadelphia region and East Coast, he retired at 56 and moved to the shore. Above all John truly cherished his family. Doc loved Anglesea and the sea wall. His home provided endless days and memories at the shore. He was a 4 for 4 guy, Sixers, Phillies, Eagles and Flyers in that order. He enjoyed watching his children play sports into High School. He so loved seeing the grandchildren excel in academics, perform in sports and act in school plays. Doc was a motor-head he loved classic cars and Phoenix Collision Center. He will be greatly missed, but eternally loved and remembered by everyone who was a part of his life and loved by him.
In addition to his beloved wife Jean, John is survived by his loving and devoted children John and his wife Michele, Thomas, Marybeth and her husband Michael, and Daniel and his wife Katie. He is also survived by his six dear grandchildren Sean, Regan, Marigrace, Miles , Daniel and Molly. His brother Duke, his three sisters Diane, Joan and Carol.
