John Dollar Obituary
John Dollar, 84, of Sherman, Texas, passed away on December 6, 2025 in Sherman, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Friday, December 12th, 2025 at Dannel Funeral Home, 302 South Walnut Street, Sherman, TX. Pastor Frank Alegria of Lakeway Methodist Church officiating. A family reception will be held after the service at Dannel Funeral Home.
John was born April 02, 1941 to Clarence and Joy Dollar. He graduated high school in Denison, Texas. He married Mary Frances Ferguson, July 05, 1963 in Sherman, Texas. John worked as a welder by trade along with the learned ability to fix or build anything. During his career he worked for Reed Drill in Pottsboro, TX, Dollar Welding in Sherman, TX and Watson Shalin in McKinney, TX.
John is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Joy Dollar, Sister Clair Cummings, brothers Lane Jimmy and Marcus Dollar.
John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Dollar, sister Margaret Helvy, husband Billy Helvy, sons Joel Dollar and wife Kari Dollar, Michael Dollar and wife Christina Dollar, Randall Dollar and partner Serena Dollar.
John had eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and seven bonus grandchildren whom he adored.
John was a man of great character and personality, he never met a stranger and if said he would do something it got done. His wife Mary was the center of his life with his three sons as the pride of his life.
John and Mary hosted family and friends often at their cabin in the Kiamishi mountains in Oklahoma which they built together early in the 80's. Riding ATV's, exploring the area and sitting by the campfire telling great stories.
He enjoyed furniture making from his high school years where he made beautiful furniture for everyone in the family to become his lasting legacy.
Tributes may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, John endured Alzheimer's the last 5 years of his life.
The family of John wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all our family and friends gracious support over the years.
