John Donnan
John L. "Jack" Donnan of Midland, Michigan, entered the arms of his Lord and Savior on November 7, 2025. He was born on August 8, 1942, in Alpena, Michigan, son of William "Roger" and Mary (McVicar) Donnan.
John graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was married to Sharon (Klee) Donnan, his high school sweetheart, for 59 years. The couple made their home in Midland, where John worked for The Dow Chemical Company for 25 years, retiring in 1993.
An outdoor enthusiast, John found joy in both the thrill of the hunt and the peace of fishing. He especially cherished time spent camping and relaxing at the family cottage. He was a longtime member of the Remington Hunting Club. John treasured spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, John is survived by his children, Karen (Byron) Huber, Liz Donnan, and Matt (Jill) Donnan; grandchildren Drew Huber, Tyler Huber, Emma Donnan, Makenzie Donnan, and Noah Donnan; his brother Bill (Mary) Donnan; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, John L. Donnan II; his parents, Roger and Mary Donnan; brothers Jerry and Darrell Donnan; and sister Carol (Mike) Gray.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., Midland. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 505 E. Carpenter Rd., Midland. The family will greet guests at the church one hour prior to the service. A committal service and burial will follow on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery in Alpena, Michigan.
