John T Douglas

John T. Douglas (JT), age 97, was born to Noah and Lela Mae Douglas in Pontotoc, Mississippi March 8, 1928. He passed away peacefully at his home in Hernando, January 17, 2026. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Joyce Rogers in Hernando, Mississippi. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After service he moved back to Memphis, Tennessee and opened his own barbershop. He later moved to Hernando in 1960 where he built his home and raised his family. JT and his family were members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 77 years, Joyce Douglas; two sons, Steve Douglas (Beverly) of Hernando, Mississippi and Gary Douglas of Hernando, Mississippi; grandchildren Greg Douglas of Oxford, Mississippi, Lacee Maxedon (Brian) of Genevia, Illinois, Marci Douglas of Houston, Texas, and Paul Anglin (Kristin) of Collierville, Tennessee; and three great grandchildren, Aubrey, Rylan, and Sophia.

The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, January 21, from 11-12 pm with services beginning at 12 pm all at Hernando Funeral Home. Interment to follow at The Christian Cemetery in Hernando, Mississippi.
