Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend
John Anthony "Biff" Duarte, a proud Vietnam War Veteran and beloved husband of the late Lois Jean Duarte, passed away peacefully in Newport, Rhode Island, on October 18, 2025.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late John Joseph Duarte and Irene Facey, Biff exemplified courage, loyalty, and resilience throughout his life-values he first demonstrated through his service to his country as a member of the United States Army.
Biff will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor, quick wit, and unwavering love for family and friends. He dedicated many years to KVH Industries, where his hard work and warm personality earned him the respect and friendship of many. Beneath his tough exterior was a heart full of warmth and compassion-always ready with a laugh, a story, or a helping hand. He shared a particularly special bond with his "little buddy," Rell, whose presence brought him great joy.
He is survived by his sons Tyler, James, Duane (Roseanna), Scott, Dominique (Kerri), and Ian (Luziana); his daughters Zona, Marlaina, and Mary; his cherished grandchildren Kyasia, Natalya, Nyala, Antezia, Alyssa, Antez Jr., Damian, A'mya, Ish'rael, La'rell, Iylah, Javian, Dylan, and Mariana; and his great-granddaughter, Ella.
Biff also leaves behind many loving brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever cherish his memory.
Biff's love and legacy will live on in all who knew him, and his memory will remain a source of comfort, laughter, and pride.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025-Lois's birthday-at Memorial Funeral Home in Newport, Rhode Island. Family and friends are invited from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Biff's remarkable life.
