John Duprey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center & Confluence Center on Aug. 2, 2024.
John Brady Duprey (93) of St. Charles, MO passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, surrounded by his children.
Brady was born August 20, 1930, in Detroit, MI, to Murray and Patricia (Brady) Duprey as the third of four children. He was a lifelong competitor who found joy in playing any sport or game but enjoyed nothing more than watching his Detroit Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings with family. His selflessness was exemplified as he served his country in the Army branch of the Korean War. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, especially summers on his vintage houseboat at The Lake of the Ozarks, which remains part of his legacy as a gathering and celebration place for his children and grandchildren. He took pride in teaching his grandkids the value of a dollar, a glass (or two) of white wine with happy hour card games, and his 70-year tradition of weekly Friday night dinners with family.
Brady was a confidant to many, leaving a legacy of wisdom, love, family, and friendship. He will be most remembered for his many lifelong friendships, cherished moments with his children and grandchildren, and loving marriage with his wife, Rose, for over 56 years before she was called home.
He is preceded in death by his wife Alice Rose Duprey (Carroll), and his sons Matthew Brady Duprey and John Michael Duprey. He is survived by his 5 daughters: Denise (Roy) Sanborn, Donna (Lenny) Lucas, Mary (Tom) Godfrey, Kathy Duprey, Lisa (Brad) Day, and daughter-in-law Missy (Matt) Duprey, as well as 15 grandchildren: Julie Morrish, Derrick Sanborn, Fallon Dunaway, Clayton Lucas, Colton Lucas, Jena Wunnenberg, Nicole Yackee, Tyler Godfrey, Matthew Jr. Duprey, Sonya Ward, Alexis Duprey, Kayla Day, Mackenzie Day, Camielle Day, Grace Day, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Dad/Grandpa, we will miss your witty remarks, your strength, your advice, and your counsel. We know you are watching over us and will think of you with every Friday night dinner, water-front sunset, Euchre game, Michigan football game, and all the small moments in between. We love you and will forever know that you're saying it back.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The American Heart Association or Hospice Support.
Visitation is scheduled for 8/12/24 at 4 -8 pm at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral Home in St. Charles, MO. Funeral mass will be held the following morning at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Dardenne Catholic Church with military burial following at 2pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Lemay, MO.

John was my boss at Vickers in Columbia I will always be thankful for the mentoring John gave me he was a class act. He would give me and my girls boat rides when we were at the lake when he was there. I enjoyed playing softball with John on the Vickers team. My prayers and thoughts are with the Duprey family on the passing of your dad, grandfather, great grandfather. Tom Orr Clinton Township Michigan
