John Eason Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte on Mar. 30, 2026.
John D. Eason, 84, of DeMotte, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Aperion Care Center.

Born on November 3, 1941, in Kentland, Indiana, John was the son of John Sr. and Lucille (Taylor) Eason. He graduated from Griffith High School with the Class of 1960 before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. John went on to build a long career in the steel mills, working as a pipefitter and taking pride in his trade.

On a summer day in 1964, John married the love of his life, Elaine Barisano. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage filled with dedication, family, and companionship.

John found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved tending to his garden, keeping a well-manicured lawn, and, in his own way, making sure everything was "in order." He had a special place in his heart for his beloved cats, Sophie and Chester, who brought him comfort and companionship.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Elaine; his sons, Darren (Lori) Eason and Mike Eason; his grandchildren, Nicholas Eason and Amanda Eason-Hall; and his three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brooks, and Nora. He is also survived by his sister, Marilyn (Jack) Kuckuck.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lawrence "Jim" Eason and Robert "Bob" Eason; and his sisters, Wanda Zyp and JoyAnn Eason.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of John at Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM, with Jack Kuckuck officiating. Interment will follow at Buswell Cemetery in Kentland, Indiana.

John will be remembered for his steady presence, his devotion to family, and the quiet way he cared for those and the things he loved.
