John Edwards Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northern Peace Funeral Home Inc on Dec. 29, 2025.
John W. Edwards, 89, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife of 63 years and family by his side. John was born November 8, 1936, in Longville, Mn., to Ronald and Marion (Carpenter) Edwards. He had nine siblings: Marion, Nancy, Ruth, Sara. Katie, Geri, Donald, Joe, and David.

John served in the Great Lakes Coast Guard as a merchant Marine for 6 years and was a yard foreman for Wallboard Inc. for 41 years.

In 1960 he met the love of his life and soulmate Patrica (Pat) at a dance, that evening when he was going home, he told his buddies I am going to marry her someday. Two years later they were married on September 8, 1962. They were blessed with two children. John retired from Wallboard Inc November of 2006.

John enjoyed going fishing, hunting, snowmobiling as well as boating. Mowing the lawn was his "clear his mind time". John was famous for his wild rice bread which he recently taught his grandson. He liked to spend time in his garden growing peppers. What he really loved though was spending time with Pat and his family and friends. John was known as a "tell it like it is" man, he loved to joke around. He had a big heart and was very loving and caring.

Those left behind to cherish John's memories are his wife Patrica "Pat", daughter Teresa Edwards (Brian) son, Trever Edwards (Denise), grandson, Steven Geving (Shawna), granddaughter Heather Walker (Kelvin) and great grandchildren, Maxwell, Jayden, Johnny, and Bennett.

Those greetings are John are his parents, Ronald and Marion Edwards, sister, Mary Slagle, brothers, Robert and Roland Edwards.

A celebration of life is planned for January 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Walker American Legion, 407 Front St, Walker MN.
