John Edwards Obituary
John left this world for his heavenly home exactly 53 years after he was baptized, having entrusted his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 17, 1973.
John, or "Jack" as his Odon family called him, was born February 3, 1929 in Odon, IN to Elza and Mabel (Dowden) Edwards.
He attended school in Odon, IN and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1946 to 1949, stationed in Germany after WWII, assisting with the Berlin Air Lift.
John worked for Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies in Indianapolis for 35 years, retiring in 1984.
He met Marcella Reddick while working at Western Electric, and they were married on February 3, 1956.
John was a member of Post Road Christian Church in Indianapolis.
During the 1960s and 1970s, John was a CB and HAM radio enthusiast.
John is survived by his daughter Jacqueline E. Haynie (Larry) of Greenfield, IN; sons Jerry K. (Julie) Edwards of Franklin, IN and Scott A. (Cari) Edwards of Carmel, IN; grandchildren Kristina Davis, Candace Bowsher, Nicole Edwards, Amanda Edwards, and Jacob Edwards; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elza Edwards and Mabel Keck; his wife, Marcella; sisters Phyllis Sherman and Nancy May; granddaughter Kristen; and great-granddaughter Trinity.
Services will be held at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East (10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229)
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 3rd, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, with funeral services to begin at 12:00pm.
