Passed away on Thursday, December 28th at age 91. He was predeceased by his parents, Sigbjorn S. Eilertsen Sr. and Anna N. (Jensen); his son, Andrew J. Eilertsen; and his brother, Sigbjorn S. Eilertsen Jr. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette M. Eilertsen (LeFrois); four children, Lisa A Shaw (Shawn), Laura J. Bingaman (Kirk), John C. Eilertsen Jr. (Rachel), and James S. Eilertsen; four grandchildren, Jack, Anna, Carly Eilertsen, and Lily Bingaman; nieces and nephews, Marjorie Eilertsen Brown (Mark), Christine Quatela (Michael), Kimberly Coumou (David), Susan Melos (Andy), Greg and Mark LeFrois; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to Norwegian immigrant parents, John was proud of his origins and the grit they instilled in him. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1952 and served for 4 ½ years. He obtained a Mechanical Engineer degree in 1962 followed by a Master of Science in Management in 1965.
John accepted an offer in 1967 to join the Eastman Kodak Company. His career at Kodak spanned 24 years and required him to travel to 60 countries across Europe, Africa, and Asia Pacific in the 1970s. He retired as Director in Corporate Real Estate in 1991. In his retirement he enjoyed his family, traveling to see friends in the US, riding dozens of roller coasters in his sixties with his son Andrew, and keenly following his children's milestones and accomplishments.
Friends may call Sunday, January 7 from 2-4PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 8, 10AM at Fairport United Methodist Church, 31 W. Church St. Interment at White Haven Memorial Park.
