John Joseph Einkauf entered into the loving arms of Jesus at the age of 59 years old on January 30, 2026 in
Helotes, Texas. He was a kind, loving, sweet and gentle man who was strong in his faith and the epitome of a family man. He was the best husband, dad and popo ever.
He enjoyed country music, dancing, movie nights, game nights and watching sports, especially the Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. More importantly, he enjoyed spending time with family. With his loving wife Irene by his side, he enjoyed volunteering in many ministries at St. Matthew including ACTS, Love Strong, the Knights of Columbus, The Bible Timeline, Circle of Love, and in every organization the kids were a part of, especially at Zion Theater Group and with Taft Theatre Company Support. He would give anyone the shirt off of his back, and he never met a stranger. His smile was a beaming reminder of the love and care we all should have for each other. He had a strong work ethic and worked for many years at Newman's before moving to do sales accounting at Northpark Lincoln and eventually transferring to work for the UTPD as a public safety officer at UT Health San Antonio, until his early retirement to be even more present for the family. He was always the upmost professional who carried his love of life into the workplace. At home, everything he did was done with love, including leaving love notes to be discovered at just the right time, buying roses to make Irene smile and celebrating all of the kids' accomplishments- he was their biggest supporter and super fan! He enjoyed cooking and BBQing as much as going out to eat, taking care of the fur babies and trips to the casinos, (especially to play blackjack!) and going to the beach.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Dorothy and his siblings, Linda, Diane and Billy. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Catalina Chapa-Einkauf, children Krysten Bullard (husband, Matthew) and Ethan Chapa-Einkauf, Jaxon Megrew, Grandchildren Alessandra Sarabia-Chapa and Elena Bullard, sister-in-law Jennifer Einkauf, brother-in law Hector Chapa (wife, Lisa), nieces Emily Einkauf, Trinity Chapa and Lexi Chapa, nephew Elias Chapa and numerous relatives and friends. He was loved by so many people in so many different circles, and everyone knew they could count on him. He filled the room with his quiet, calm and yet incredibly strong spirit and with his caring blue eyes where love shone through sparkles. His absence is a devastating and heartbreaking blow to our family, and his absence will be deeply felt all. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him, and yet we hold firm in the knowledge that he is pain free, made new again and is living wrapped with the immense love of Jesus for all eternity We trust in the promises of salvation and we know that this is but a temporary separation until we are all called home to Glory with him.
A Rosary will be prayed for him on Feb. 17th at St. Matthew Catholic Church (10703 Wurzbach) at 9:30am, followed by the Mass of Farewell at 10am, with the subsequent interment services at 1pm at the St. Joseph's Chapel in Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi Marian. Those wishing to send flowers may do so, sending them directly to St. Matthew Catholic Church on the day of the funeral Mass.
