Greensboro – John “Johnny” Leslie Engle, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Hospice Home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 28, 1943, in Randolph County.
Johnny dedicated over 20 years of his life to a fulfilling career with Reese Medical Oxygen, where his commitment to service and community shone brightly. Beyond his professional life, Johnny was a man of passion and hobbies, reveling in the excitement of NASCAR races and the enjoyment of fishing by the water.
Johnny's unwavering faith was also a cornerstone of his life; he found solace in watching sermons by Charles Stanley and Billy Graham, drawing strength and inspiration from their teachings. His gentle spirit, mixed with a determined heart, stayed strong even in the face of declining health due to ALS and lung cancer.
Johnny is survived by his sons, Channon Engle and Brandon Engle; his grandchildren that he adored, Destiny Engle, Addison Engle and Vivian Turner, he found great joy in their laughter and achievements. He is remembered fondly by his sisters, Betty Engle, Kathy Reese and her husband David, and Sheree Hall, as well as a niece, several nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. Johnny has now been reunited with his father, Harold Otis Engle; his mother, Norma Elizabeth Shue, and his brother-in-law, Keith Hall who preceded him in death.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Johnny will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service.
Though Johnny has left this world, the love he shared and the memories he created will forever remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Collective, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
