John Englert

West Bloomfield-John Erwin Englert age 85, passed away peacefully September 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Dansville, on June 4, 1938, A son of the late Carl J. Englert and Bertha (Walker) Rook, he is also predeceased by a sister, Joyce Wambold, a brother, Carl "Sonny" Englert Jr.
John was proud of his four-year service in the Air Force, he was honorably discharged in 1961. During his service one of his fond memories was the time he spent as a lifeguard. Following his active duty, he spent two years in the Air Force reserves. He then began his lifelong career at General Motors (Delco) in Rochester N.Y. Where he retired after thirty-five years. John's hobbies included softball, bowling, coaching, gardening, baking and cooking (he loved to share good food and meals with his family!).
He was a member of the Union Hose Club and an active member of the Dansville Fish and Game Club.
John was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time on the land in Brockport and Naples, with his son and grandchildren driving the tractor, planting trees, and going for rides in the ATV. John loved supporting his grandchildren and showed this by attending all their sporting events, as well as spending quality time which each of them. He was a loving father and grandfather, with a one-of-a-kind soul. He set the grand example on how to live life to the fullest. Anyone around John couldn't help but feel his passion for life.
Surviving John are his children, Darren (Kate) Englert, Kimberly Englert, and Kristen Belanger, grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Wolff, Travis Englert, Zackary, Madelyn, Nickolas Belanger, Liam, Leona, and Nora Englert, great-grandchildren, Hudson, and Lennox Wolff, a sister, Carol Novak, brothers, Ronald, Gerald (Faith), William, Lawrence, a son-in-law Todd Belanger, several nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 30th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Dansville Rod and Gun Club, upper club house, Gibson St. Dansville. Arrangements by Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
