John Estenfelder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home - Independence on Mar. 6, 2026.
John Martin "Marty" Estenfelder, age 66, of Walton, KY, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, KY. He was the retired owner and operator of M.E.B. (Marty Estenfelder Builder) Contracting, and he was a member of Southfork Christian Church in Verona, KY.

Baseball was one of Marty's greatest passions. Over the years, he enjoyed coaching numerous youth teams and took great pride in mentoring young players. Marty was also well known for handing out $2 bills to people he liked or met along the way-his small but memorable gesture of kindness. A man of many interests, Marty enjoyed fishing, restoring guns, visiting neighborhood friends while riding his golf cart, and celebrating the Fourth of July with his annual fireworks. Above all, Marty's greatest joy was his family-especially his grandchildren. He rarely missed their activities and events and treasured every moment spent with them.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Anthony and Mary Joan (Burns) Estenfelder; his brother, Jim Estenfelder; and his nephew, Eric Estenfelder.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Kathy (Doyle) Estenfelder; his children, Matt Estenfelder (Julie) and Kelly Holcomb (Jeremy); his siblings, Jeff Estenfelder, Joe Estenfelder (June), Judie Hammann, Michelle Lindemulder, and Rae Lynn Grout; his grandchildren, Bailey Holcomb (Carlos), Jaelynn Holcomb, Matthew Holcomb, Finley Estenfelder, John "Charlie" Holcomb, and Scarlet Estenfelder; and his great-granddaughter, Magnolia Mathena.

Visitation for Marty will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Mother of God Cemetery in Latonia, KY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Diocesan Catholic Children's Home, 75 Orphanage Road, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017.
