John I. Everling, 72, Rockford, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, he was born on April 17, 1952, the son of Ronald and Beverly (Stinemates) Everling in Fond du Lac, WI. He married Rose Mary (Freund) Everling in August of 1971.
John went to trade school where he obtained a certification. He was a machinist for Greenlee Textron until his retirement, where he was a part of their fraternal organization. He volunteered with United Way and as a head coach for the Nelson Storm Junior Tackle Team. He was an avid Packers fan and loved to spend his time hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; his children, Dan (Lori) Everling, Todd Everling, Chris Everling, and Stefanie Lenz; his grandchildren, Ian Doyle, Anessa Everling, Bryson Everling, Andrew Everling, Adriana Everling, Chad Lenz, and Max Everling; his brother, William (Barb) Everling; and his sister, Kathy Farr; and his several nieces and nephews; he is preceded by his parents; his brothers, Scott and Mark Everling; and his nephew, Lance Everling.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life at 12:00 noon at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford IL, 61108. To share memories or extend condolences online, please visit www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
