Rita Helen Everling, age 85, of Dushore, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, December 17, 2025, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.
Rita was born on September 8, 1940, a daughter of the late Daniel J. and Anna Peregrim Everling. She graduated from the Loyalsock Area High School, a member of the class of 1958.
She worked for the Civil Service at the Pentagon as a Budget Analyst for the National Guard, retiring after 30 years of service. She retired to Forks Township and worked for the Eagles Mere Country Club in their Dushore office for a short time and volunteered for years at the Sullivan County Library.
Rita was an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Dushore, PA, and was a member of St. Basil's Altar and Rosary Society. She was a faithful money counter on Monday mornings.
She enjoyed visiting with her family and serving her community by volunteering, especially at the Sullivan County Library. She was a faithful member of the Friends of the Sullivan County Library where she was an advisory board member. Rita was instrumental in doing the library’s history binder. She was also an animal lover, especially cats, however she appreciated all of God’s creation, with all animals outdoors including the birds, butterflies, and all of nature. Rita also found joy in doing arts and crafts with crocheting and sewing.

Rita is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by an infant brother in 1946, and by two sisters, L. Kathleen Dieter on October 5, 2021, and Joan M. Hubbard on June 30, 2013.
A Transferal Service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM from the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, with the Rev. Bert S. Kozen, her pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in the St. Francis of Xavier Cemetery, Overton, PA.
Family and friends may call on Monday morning, December 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the start of the transferal at 10:30 AM in the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
