John Fath

John Fred Fath, born June 8, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Fred and Alice Fath, passed away peacefully on July 26th, 2025. A graduate of Des Moines Technical High School, John continued his education at DMACC and United Electronics. Throughout his life, he worked intermittently repairing electronics and was known for his love of music, singing, gardening, and working with his hands. In his later years, he found joy playing guitar for his fellow residents at the nursing home.
John is survived by his children, Jeremy Fath (Robin), Jennifer Schultz (Andy), and Annette Pridemore (Chris); eight grandchildren; seven siblings; numerous cousins; two aunts; and his former wife, Diane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice Fath, and his grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with a rosary at 6:30 PM, at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2025, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 Orchard Hills Road, Norwalk, Iowa.
The family is grateful for the love and support shown throughout John's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or for Memorial Masses in John's honor.
