John Mark Fayad, a loving husband, proud father, and devoted grandfather passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 3 at the age of 78.
Born in Detroit in 1947 to John and Vicki Fayad, John built a life defined by hard work. As a youth he loved baseball, playing in the National Little League World Series Quarterfinals for Harper Woods. As a young man he served his country as a member of The United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. He later became a successful accountant and in the early 1980s became the owner of Alkar Steel and Processing.
Outside of work, John had a deep love for golf and never missed an opportunity to play a round. From Moravian Hills, to Red Run Country Club, to Twin Eagles Golf and Country Club you could always find him on the course. He also enjoyed betting sports, horses, and playing poker, approaching them with the same enthusiasm and strategy that defined much of his life. Following his retirement, John spent most of his time traveling, relaxing at his second home in Naples, Florida with his wife Leslie, and visiting his children and grandchildren.
His legacy will live on in the family he loved so deeply and the memories shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Vicki. He is survived by his beloved wife, Leslie; his sons, Jon (Lindsay), Patrick (Stephanie), Grant, and Ashley (Matt); and his treasured grandsons Crosby (11), Michael (9), Joshua (7), and Henry (1.5). He is also survived by many dear friends.
