John Fearey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bella Vida Funeral Home on Mar. 26, 2025.
John Fearey loved raising his voice in songs of praise to God. On Saturday morning, March 22nd he slipped from this life and joined the ultimate choir of saints in glory singing to His Savior.
John Foster Fearey, was born to Jack & Shirley (Foster) Fearey on September 9, 1946 in Seattle, WA. His brother, Steve, joined the family four and a half years later. The two boys grew up in the Seattle area enjoying many activities such as Scouts, music and school activities. John was in the first graduating class of Shorecrest High School in 1964.
He attended Whitman College for a year, then finished his degree in education at Eastern Washington State College. There he met Marcy Fitzhugh and the two were married in August of 1968. They began their teaching careers in Chelan, Washington and eventually taught in schools in Idaho, Texas and Ohio. He taught history and choir, and served as the principal of several schools.
John & Marcy were the proud and loving parents of four kids - Mark, Melissa, Matt and Melody. They modeled a life of love for God, family, music and others. John served in each church he was a part of, often as a teacher and music leader. His deepest devotion was to His Savior, Jesus, seen by others in his joyful spirit, faithfulness in prayer, service and study of the Bible.
One of John's greatest joys was cheering for his 15 grandchildren in their various activities - acting in plays, singing in choirs, performing in recitals and playing sports. The kids all knew the distinctive cheer that carried above the others belonged to their grandpa.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Jack Fearey and his nephew Shannon Fearey. He has left behind so many who loved him, including his wife of nearly 57 years, Marcy, and children Mark (Tory) Fearey, Melissa (Jon) Stadtlander, Matt (Lori) Fearey and Melody (Dave) Mitchell; and his brother Steve Fearey, niece Olivia Fearey and nephew Chris Fearey. His grandchildren are Olivia Fearey; Alyssa, Abigail and Nate Stadtlander; Hannah, Chloe, Luke, Jack and Thea Fearey; and Emma, Sam, Rosy, Jasper, Karoline and Jaden Mitchell.
His much loved and somewhat rowdy dogs, Ozzie and Fritz, are also feeling his loss.
A service to celebrate his life and mourn our loss will be held on April 6th at 2 p.m. at Faith Community Bible Church in Boise, Idaho.
