John Robert Fischer, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed peacefully on March 24, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born on September 7, 1940, John was the son of Dorothea and Henry Fischer. He is survived by his loving sister, Barbara Sawyer, and brother-in-law, Robert Sawyer; his niece, Karen Dewing (Scott Dewing); his great-nieces and nephew, Ellie Dewing, Brooke Dewing, and Maxwell Dewing; and many cousins and close friends.
John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal. He served during the Vietnam era and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Purple Heart for his service and sacrifice.
Beyond his military service, John was an actor and songwriter, and had a deep passion for golf. A proud and enthusiastic golfer, he achieved the rare accomplishment of making three holes-in-one. He was also known for his love of music and his guitar, and for his great sense of humor.
A Service will be held in his honor at South Florida National Cemetery.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
