Mr. John Michael "Mike" Fortson, 73, of Danielsville, GA passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Fortson was born in Royston, GA on July 12, 1952, son of the late John L. Fortson, Jr. and the late Betty R. Wallace Fortson. He was a truck driver for 47 years, having worked for Fed Ex Freight for the last 28 years. Mr. Fortson was also a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and the John H. Jones Masonic Lodge #348.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Robert Fortson and Gerald Wallace.

Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Minish Fortson; son, Christopher M. Fortson (Rhonda) of Danielsville, GA; daughters, Sally Fortson of Danielsville, GA and Sherry Fortson Dove (Dwayne) of Danielsville, GA; sisters, Linda Patrick of Danielsville, GA and Cheryl Brock of Danielsville, GA; grandchildren, Spencer Fortson, Emily Adams (Brantley Parker), Blanton Adams (Kaleigha Jordan), Blaine Adams (Bre McElhannon), Jana Mason (Kyle) and Chase Dove (McKenzie); step grandchildren, Emily Dove, Jenna Dove and Blake Dove; great grandchildren, Easton Dove, Ivy Jane Mason, Enslee Dove, Dollie Mason, Grady Mason and Nolan Dove.

The family would like to thank nurse Devindra "Dee" Carino, with St. Mary's Hospice, for her exceptional love and care for Mr. Fortson and the entire family during his final days.

Funeral services for Mr. Fortson will be held in the Shiloh Baptist Church at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with Rev. Glenn Guest officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening. Mr. Fortson will be placed in the church from 3:00 p.m. until funeral hour on Sunday afternoon. During other times, the family will be at the home.

Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to the John H. Jones Masonic Lodge #348.
