Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holt Memorial Chapel - Harrison on Feb. 5, 2026.
John Bertrand "Johnny" Fox, 91, of Harrison, formerly of Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the home of his daughter. Johnny went to be with the Lord just two days shy of his 92nd birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service.
He was born February 6, 1934, at
San Antonio, Texas, to Brenner Bertrand "B. B." and Jamie Hewlitt Ponder Fox. As a young man, Johnny worked alongside his father in the auto repair business. He was also a United States Army veteran, having faithfully served his country as a mechanic working on aircraft and helicopters. In 1960, he married Miss Mona Barbara Timberlake in
San Antonio, Texas. Together they began building a family and a life centered on hard work and devotion to one another. Shortly after their marriage, Johnny opened his own auto repair business, which he operated successfully for many years. Later in life, he transitioned into insurance claims, working as an Auto Appraiser for State Farm.
The defining aspect of Johnny's life was his deep love for Jesus and for people. Shortly after his wife's passing, he worked as a minister in Hospice, faithfully walking alongside those experiencing grief. In later years, he served in prison ministry, sharing Jesus and teaching anger management classes, and he was also an ordained pastor. Johnny attended the Ark Church in Harrison and was Pentecostal in faith. He loved to preach and tell others about Jesus and was never ashamed to share his faith, living as a steady example of what it means to be a Christian for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was known for his generosity, always willing to help those in need whenever he was able. He cared deeply for his family and treated those who worked alongside him as family as well. In his spare time, Johnny enjoyed fixing and building things and looked forward to attending activities at the Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mona Barbara Fox; and five sisters, Margaret Hartley, Betty Casarez, Ginger Baertich, Patricia Gunn, and Jo Sexauer.
He is survived by three children, Brenner J. Fox (Laurie) of Arizona, Mark A. Fox (Sherrie) of Washington, and Janice Jo Fox (Chuck Obsniuk) of Harrison; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Fox of Corpus Christi, Texas.
His family rejoices in knowing Johnny has entered into the joy of his Lord and is reunited with his Savior and his wife, Barbara. A memorial service will be held at a later date. He will be buried in Ingleside Cemetery in Hondo, Texas, next to his wife. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
