John Edward "Eddie" Froman passed peacefully on September 4, 2025, at Freeman Health Center in Joplin, Missouri. John was born April 16, 1937, in
Miami, Oklahoma to Guy and Gertrude (Helm) Froman. He graduated from Miami High School in 1955 and joined the United States Army. Eddie married the love of his life, Virginia "Phyllis" Brattain, on December 30, 1960. Eddie served as a patiently devoted husband for over 50 years, and the couple had three beautiful children, a daughter and two sons. Eddie coached his kids' ball teams growing up and enjoyed going on fishing trips. He looked forward to the Froman Family Fishing trips to Broken Bow, where he fished and fellowshipped with his brothers, sons, nephews, grandsons, and family friends. If the weather permitted, Eddie could be found at the golf course. He recorded two holes in one during his career; one on hole 13 at Peoria Ridge Golf Course and the other on hole 8 at Neosho Golf Club. He was also a force to be reckoned with on the pool table, winning multiple tournaments and league titles. He was a proud member of the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, where he enjoyed tribal committee work. Eddie really enjoyed taking a good nap. Some of his favorite locations were his recliner while watching golf, John's couch after every family holiday meal, and the front and center rows of NEO theater productions performed by his brother David's students. One of Eddie's favorite roles was that of Poppie to his 5 grandchildren. He purchased endless supplies of paper dolls and Barbies for his 4 granddaughters and the very best Star Wars Lego sets for his grandson. Poppie enjoyed spending quality time with all his grandchildren by playing games such as Scattegories, Bingo, Boggle, and cards. He also made the best sloppy joes, grew the tastiest tomatoes and cucumbers, and crafted the finest root beer floats. Poppie enjoyed scouring toy shelves with Cheryl looking for the loudest and most obnoxious toys to present to his great grandchildren every Christmas. Poppie left a legacy of love with all of his beautiful granddaughters and onery grandsons. Mr. Froman was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia "Phyllis" Froman, his parents, Guy and Gertrude Froman, his sister Libby Hargrove, his brothers Bob Froman, David Froman, Ronnie Froman, and Donnie Froman, and his infant granddaughter, Eden Nichols.
