John Frost Obituary

John Wilson Frost Jr. M.D. of Annapolis, MD passed away on Sunday morning November 25th after a brief illness. Dr. Jack Frost arrived in Annapolis in 1973 with his wife Ann and young family, as the first plastic surgeon at Anne Arundel General Hospital and the only one in the county at that time. Active in the community, he was a Board Member for the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and variously President and Chairman of the local and regional Ducks Unlimited branches, where he developed and led their Youth Hunter Responsibility/ Gun Safety program. To enjoy the fellowship of other sailors, Jack joined the Annapolis Yacht Club in 1975, remaining a member for over 43 years. His longstanding love of sailing and his newfound love of the Chesapeake Bay brought him to Annapolis, following two years in the U.S. Navy at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. There, from 1971 to 1973, he used his surgical skill to treat sailors returning from Vietnam. In his later years he lived in both Leland, MI and Indian Wells, CA where he was a member of the Eldorado Country Club. Born and raised in Louisville, KY to John Wilson Frost Sr. and Mary Leona Bishop, he studied at Kentucky Military Institute before attending Vanderbilt University for both his undergraduate and medical degrees. He is survived by his children Leslie Frost Stouffer, Laura Frost Gilbert and John Wilson Frost III, their mother Ann Mary Ball Frost PhD, his grandchildren Amelia, Erika, Abigail, Lauren and Christopher, nephew Seth and niece Devon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 10 years Mary Evelyn Maxon Frost. Jack will be remembered as a charming gentleman, with a quick smile, easy laugh and an ability to tell a great story utilising both. A viewing will be held at John M Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis on Monday, December 3rd from 2–4pm and from 6–8pm. The funeral will be conducted by the Reverend Peter Mayer at St Margaret's Church, Annapolis on Tuesday, December 4th at 11am with the burial to follow. Memorials may be made to Valhalla Sailing Project (Vahallasailing.org).
