Feb. 11, 1957 – Dec. 13, 2024
John Joseph Gehringer, a kind and adventurous soul, passed away on Dec. 13, 2024, at the age of 67.
Born on Feb. 11, 1957, to David and Eleanor Gehringer, John grew up in West Burlington and graduated from West Burlington High School in 1975.
In 1985, John embarked on a new chapter, moving to Arizona, where he established roots and built a home in Mesa in 1997. A dedicated worker, he proudly served as a cashier for Fry's Food & Drug for over 30 years and was an active member of the UFCW Union.
John's life was enriched by his passions, especially his love for rock 'n' roll, with Santana being a favorite, and his talent for playing the electric guitar.
A devoted golfer, he also had a deep appreciation for the ocean, finding joy and wonder in snorkeling and scuba diving.
His adventurous spirit led him to participate in thrilling experiences like shark dives, night dives, and even a dive in the legendary Bermuda Triangle.
John will be remembered for his loving heart and the joy he brought to those around him.
He is survived by his brothers, Ryan (Patty) of New London, Tom (Dianna Lomeli) of Gilbert, Arizona, and Mark (Alexis) of Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to honor John's life during a visitation at Lunning Chapel on Friday, June 13, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. followed by a graveside service at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dodgeville on Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m.
A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the Filling Station in Yarmouth.
