John "David" George Jr., 60, passed away on March 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories that will continue to live on through those who loved him.
John "David" George Jr. was born in Oklahoma City on June 30, 1965, to his mother, Evelyn "Katie" Kay Ruth, and his biological father, John David George Sr. He was raised in
El Reno, Oklahoma, where he grew up with his mom Katie and the man he knew as dad, Ray Ruth, alongside his three brothers: Doug, Donald, and Deryk Ruth.
The four boys were well known around town as a rowdy and mischievous bunch. Growing up in El Reno, their childhood was filled with adventure. They spent their days riding dirt bikes, hot-rodding around town, and getting into the kind of trouble that only brothers with too much energy and imagination could create. Those early years were filled with laughter, engines revving, and the unbreakable bond that brothers shared. He would eventually graduate from El Reno Highschool alongside many cherished friends.
Later in life, David would work for his mother at her successful antique mall in El Reno off Route 66. Working at the antique mall taught him a lot and would set the path for his career in sales. One thing about him, he could sell anything – and he did. He sold antiques, cars, roofs, steaks – you name it. And not only did he sell many things, but he was also exceptionally successful at it. One thing he prided himself on was being able to successfully provide for his family.
David would eventually meet the love of his life, his late wife – Angela "Angie" Renee Cochran, whom he cherished deeply. Their love and the life they shared together remained an important part of his story, as they would eventually have three children together: Jake, Ashley, and Spencer George.
Throughout David's life, he had a deep love for music, especially rock-and music was always a big part of his life. Many people remember him with a microphone in hand, singing karaoke, laughing with friends, and enjoying the moment. When he wasn't doing karaoke, you could find him watching NASCAR – where he would anxiously await to see if his favorite driver – Ricky Rudd would win, in the yard "pulling weeds", fishing early mornings, or spending his Sundays watching movies & "wrastling" with the kids. He loved being around people, telling stories, and making memories with those around him.
Above all else, David was a father and a grandfather and nothing meant more to him than his family. One of the greatest joys of his life was becoming "Papa." His grandchildren were truly his pride and joy. Addyson, Zaiden, Malakai, Lydia, Mason, Zarrick, Everett and Averie held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the time he spent with them.
Though David's passing leaves a space in the hearts of those who loved him, his story does not end here. His laughter, his music, and the memories he gave to those around him will continue to live on. Those who knew him take comfort in believing that somewhere beyond this life, he has finally been reunited with his beloved wife, mother, and brother once again.
And if there's music playing somewhere beyond this world, there's little doubt that David has already found the microphone and is singing along.
John David George Jr. is preceded in death by his mother Evelyn "Katie" Ruth, biological father John David George Sr., brother Donald Ruth, and his beloved wife Angela (Angie) Cochran-George, whom he now joins again.
He is survived by his children Jake and spouse Mollie, Ashley and spouse Logan, and Spencer George; his brothers Doug and Deryk Ruth and another biological brother Mark George; his beloved eight grandchildren; his dad Ray Ruth, and many other relatives and friends who will remember his free spirit, humor, and the many memories he created with them.
