Devoted husband to Ann T Getz, 1940 to 2023. Oldest of 3, preceded in death by his middle sister Barbara, and survived by younger brother Tom (Sharron).
Loving father of 3...Edward (Ingrid), John, and Susan (Michael). Grandfather to Elizabeth, Joey, John Ryan, and Katie. Great-grandfather to Teddy and Eleanor, and Uncle to many. A hard working man all his life, who couldn't get used to having little or nothing to do. Retired as vice president of Ellis and Watts Global Industries, an engineering and manufacturing company. He loved being useful. Kindness, fairness, and efficiency, were his guiding rules. He ran for congress in 1978 motivated by those values. He loved to spend time with his family and took us on many vacations with our pop-up trailer. He left an indelible impression on each of us, and will be sorely missed.
Visitation for John will take place on Thursday, Thursday December 4th from 4pm to 8pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Park. He will lie instate on Friday, December 5th from 10:30 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11 am at St. Ambrose Church, 15020 Hampton Street, Grosse Pointe Park.
