John Leon Glover of Albany, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the Willson Hospice House at the age of 87. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025 at First Free Will Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Rev. David Postlewaite will officiate. Interment will follow to Floral Memory Gardens.
Born on October 20, 1938, in Cairo, Georgia, to the late Troy Jack and Gertrude Gillespie Glover. John was a devoted lineman who spent over forty years working with Mitchell EMC. John had a passion for life, enjoying the simple pleasures such as spending time at the beach, going on camping trips, and tending to his yard work. He loved to share conversations over the telephone and found joy in watching television. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley W. Glover, and his siblings: Troy J. Glover, Jr., Hershel Talmadge Glover, Christine Glover Parker, and Roger Glover, step-son, Dougie Batchelor.
He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Barbara Glover of Albany, Georgia, his children, Mavis Lynn Dunahoo (Steven) of Cleveland, Georgia; Becky Dixon (Curtis) of Baconton, Georgia; Wendall "Kim" Glover (Monica) of Newnan, Georgia; Leon Timothy Glover of Albany, Georgia; Janine Glover McClung of Cleveland, Tennessee; step-children; Pam Freeman (Ferman) of Leesburg, Georgia; and Melissa Williams (Eddie) of Tallahassee, Florida, Peggy Lee (Randy) of Tiger GA, Sherry Wolcansek (Steve) of Glenville NC, and Randy Simpson (Beth) of Waynesville, NC. His grandchildren, Christopher, Jeff, Melissa, Brad, Brandi, Mandy, Jennifer, TJ, Jamie, Zach, Ryan, Allyson, Colt, Andrew, Lauren, Holly, Scotty, Andrew, Tyler, Grant, and Katelyn, as well as having twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, his sister, Patsy Gilley of Pelham, Georgia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
