John Golman Obituary

Published by CLOSED-WHITESIDE FAMILY MORTUARY on Nov. 16, 2013.
John (Junior) Golman, 94, passed-away at his home in Cedarville, Washington on November 16, 2013. Junior was born to John and Grace (Williams) Golman on May 16, 1919 in Aberdeen, WA. He attended Cedarville Elementary School and graduated from Oakville High School in 1937. After graduating, he worked as a logger and then for Boeing in Seattle before joining the Navy during WWII. After the Navy he worked for Shafer Brother's Logging before going to Grays Harbor Road District where he stayed until his retirement in 1974. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and did the "Dozer" work when the Oakville-Brooklyn road was built in the mid-1950's. Junior married Annabell Erickson in 1947 and they were married 50 years until her death in 1998. They had one son, Michael Golman of Oakville. Except for his time at Boeing and the Navy, he lived his entire life on the family farm in Cedarville. In addition to his wife, Annabell and his parents, Junior is preceded in death by a brother, Denny Golman of Elma, WA. Junior's love was hunting, fishing and just hiking in the woods. He was a member of the Washington Arms Collectors since 1965 and collected Ambassadeur fishing reels. Annabell and Junior attended many garage sales and swap meets. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Masonic Cemetery in Elma. A gathering will follow at the Sharon Grange near Porter, Washington. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Oakville Fire Department.
