John Sisto Gonzales

John Sisto Gonzales, aka, "John-John," a devoted son and respected member of the Socorro community, passed away on March 3, 2026, at the age of 59.
Known fondly as an "IT Guru," John had a brilliant mind for technology. Whether he was working on computers or diving into his next book, his passions were driven by a lifelong curiosity and dedication to learning. His professional life was marked by service and excellence; he was honored to serve as a dispatcher for the New Mexico State Police, where he was recognized as both Civilian of the Year and Dispatcher of the Year-a testament to his commitment to helping others.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a man of simple, deep joys. He was a loving son who found great comfort in his faith as a Catholic.
He cherished the classic sounds of 80's rock and oldies, and he held a special place in his heart for the time spent in the workshop alongside his grandfather, Sisto. Those moments were among his most treasured memories.
John is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sisto and Mary Leyba (maternal); Pablo and Candelaria Gonzales (paternal); and Ramona and Madalenio Betancur. He is survived by his loving parents, Johnny and Eleanor Gonzales, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
His legacy of kindness, service, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Services for John will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Peralta, NM. A visitation will be held at 9:30 am, followed by a rosary at 10:30 am. Mass will then be recited at 11:00 am. John will be placed to rest at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens Cemetery immediately following the mass. A reception will be held at Sam's Place in Los Lunas after the committal service.
