John J Gorham (Jack) passed away peacefully at home on December 30th, 2024.
Jack was born in Superior Az at the house on Kumke Ct next to the Magma Club on December 22, 1932. It was a stormy windy night. He developed asthma at the age of 3. He was small and very thin and suffered until late in his teens when he outgrew it. He graduated from Superior High School in 1950. He joined the army reserve after school at age of 17. He was called to active duty at the start of the Korean War but was 4F due to his asthma. He worked at a grocery store for a year then joined Holsum Bakery. He delivered bread to Superior, Ray, Sonora and part of Apache Junction. He left after over 9 years and went to work at San Manuel Copper Mine in 1960. He became a Boilermaker and went into supervision. He drove to and from Superior until he married in 1965. He married Evelyn Martinez and moved to San Manuel. They had 2 children Stephanie and John. John was killed in 1996 and is buried in Mammoth, Az. Stephanie had one child, Miguel who both live in Phoenix. Jack worked for Magma for over 35 years. Jack was the 5th son and 8th child born to Pat and Molly Gorham. Jack enjoyed the outdoors, he helped at the JF Ranch for over 50 years. He enjoyed fishing and played tennis, softball, basketball and golf for many years.
