John Michael Grashof, 70, of Sarasota, Florida, originally from Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Weiss; his sons, Jonathan and John (Maria); his grandsons, Juan and Adrian; his granddaughter, Sofia; his brothers, David (Liz), Stephen (Kim), and Paul; his sisters, Kathy and Susan; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend, Carol.

John was predeceased by his father, Robert, and his brother, James Grashof.

John was a gentle, giving, and kind man whose warmth touched everyone he met. He loved to paint, and many of his happiest hours were spent creating artwork that gave him joy and pride. His paintings, which he loved to frame and gift, found their way to family, friends, neighbors, doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, and even delivery drivers-each person touched by his generous spirit.

John was deeply devoted to his family. They always came first in his life, and he gave them his love, support, and guidance every day.

He also enjoyed life's simple pleasures-time on the golf course, sharing laughs with friends, and cheering on the Cleveland Browns. Those moments brought him happiness, but what he cherished most were the times spent with his family, creating memories that will live on forever.

John proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran. Burial plans have not yet been decided.
