Early Years
John Greg Major was born on December 29, 1956 in Yonkers, NY. He was the firstborn of five children. John was a beautiful gift to his mother.
Education and Career
John earned his high school diploma in 1977 from James Monroe High School in the Bronx. Shortly after his high school graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps. He received an honorable discharge. John was proud to be a United States Marine.
Life in Christ
John surrendered his life to Christ in 1988. After moving to Ellenville, NY, John attended and served as usher at Shiloh Baptist Church.
Clubs and Activities
John was an avid basketball player having played for his Junior High and High School teams. He also played football for a local Bronx football league. John loved the latest fashion and music. Often times he would be found shopping for clothes and music. He enjoyed a wide range of music but Earth, Wind and Fire was his favorite musical group. John's favorite family activity was playing "Crazy Eights" with his dear mother.
Survivors
The Lord came for John on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lorrene Major. The dearly loved ones who will forever cherish his memory include his mother, Dolores Major; his brother, Val Major and his sister in law, Karen Major; his sister, Annette Cutino; his sister, Estelle Kazar and his brother in law, Thomas Kazar; his nieces, Marcy, Shanell, Adrina, Ronnette, Raven (Goddaugher), Brittany, Charlesse and Rebecca; his nephews, Chaz, Robert Jr., Malik and Matthew; special friends, Cathy and Gerry; and a host of veterans, family and friends too numerous to list but no less dear.
