VILLE PLATTE - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Winston Guillory, a devoted husband, loving father, and esteemed veteran of the United States Air Force on Monday, May 27, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family, at the age of 80. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Gates of Heaven where John will be laid to rest with military honors befitting his dedicated service to his country. Father Stephen Pellessier will preside over services.
Born in Ville Platte, LA, John served his country with honor for 20 years, rising to the rank of SMSGT and receiving distinguished honors such as the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and National Defense Service Medal. In addition to his distinguished military career, John dedicated two decades to service with the State of Louisiana. His commitment to duty and tireless work ethic left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He found joy in antiquing, gardening, music, and woodworking. These passions reflected his keen eye for craftsmanship and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
John will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Pricilla Guillory "Pris”, his son, Troy M. Guillory and daughter-in-law, Lori E. Huckaby Guillory, as well as his cherished granddaughters, Alexandra (Alex) Jolie Guillory and Brynn Cailin Guillory, and his grandson, Caden Maddox Guillory, all of Wylie, TX and his sister, Diana Sue Guillory, of Ville Platte, LA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Mary Guillory; his son, Mark Edward Guillory; his brother, Tony (James Anthony) Guillory and sister, Gloria Dean Soileau.
At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary being recited by Deacon Ben Soileau at 5:30 pm. Visitation will resume on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 8:00 am until the time of service.
