A faithful servant of God and family man above all else, Eddie was a true example of Christ's love on Earth to his family, his friends, and his community. He was a devout member of Zion Christian Church in Deep River, having served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, youth and Sunday School teacher, and member of the choir for many years. He also was the tenor in the Gunter Quartet and Zion Church Quartet.
Eddie was proud of his heritage, spending many years tracing his family roots back to Wales, England and France.
He was born August 9, 1956 to the late Leonard Newton and Betty Morrison Gunter. He is survived by his devoted wife, Terri Talbott Gunter; his children, Tiffany Gunter Hinnant and husband, Zach, of New Hill; Adam Shane Gunter and wife, Olivia, of Chesapeake, Virginia; and Evan Bennett Gunter, and wife, Lauren, of Sanford. "Papa" will be missed by his adoring grandchildren, Clara Belle Hinnant, Nash Clee Hinnant, Brantley Hugh Gunter, and Lillian Grace Gunter. Eddie is also survived by his brother, Leonard Newton Gunter, Jr. and wife, Roxie; sister, Linda Gunter Greer and husband, Malcolm; both of the Asbury community in Chatham County; and numerous, loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Zion Christian Church on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at other times at the family home. The funeral will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Zion Christian Church with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
