HUBBARD John Neal Gunter, 85, passed away on Tuesday March 4, 2025 at Briarfield at Ashley Circle. He was born January 2, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of the late Robert and Sarah Riley Gunter.
Mr. Gunter a 1958 graduate of Liberty High School, served with the United States Army overseas in Germany from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1963. John worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, Westinghouse and then retired from Wells Fargo as a messenger in 2002.
John enjoyed woodworking, sitting on his porch, watching old western movies and always had a story to tell for anyone who would listen.
He leaves his wife, the former Linda Jeanne Meyers, whom he married May 21, 1966; four sons, John, Scott, Tom and Matt (Alicia) Gunter; three grandchildren, Madisen, Hope and Bentlea. He also leaves his brother Harry Gunter and his wife Penelope.
John was preceded in death by his parents and an infant grandson, Adam.
The family wishes to extend a thank you to the nursing staff at Briarfield at Ashley Circle for their care over the past year and also to Patriot Hospice.
Family and friends may call on Monday March 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Byus officiating.
Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
