John K. Guy, Sr., a beloved man in the Louisville community, passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on August 11, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, John was known for his deep-rooted commitment to service and passion for life.
John dedicated a significant portion of his career to the United States Postal Service, where he retired as a Passport Clerk. His dedication to customer service was evident throughout his tenure; he took great pride in helping others and was recognized for his honesty, dependability, and trustworthy nature. John’s contributions extended beyond his professional life; he served his country honorably as part of the Army Security Agency, completing four and a half years of active duty and an additional year in active Reserves. His service to his country remained one of his proudest accomplishments.
An alumnus of Morehead University, John held a double major in English and Political Science. His thirst for knowledge and love for learning fostered a curious mind, which he passionately applied to many interests. John was not only an avid stamp collector and gardener but also a devoted art collector and a huge Beatles fan, reflecting his appreciation for creativity and beauty in life.
John is survived by his son, John Kent Guy, Jr.; his sisters, Karel Thomas (Frank), Kathi Irby (John), and Kris Littrell (Will); and his eight nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish his memory and the impact he had on their lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Guy and Dana S. Guy.
A visitation will be held on March 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to honor and remember John's life, celebrating the warmth and joy he brought to so many.
John K. Guy, Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his dedication to family and friends, and his enduring legacy of service and kindness.
