John A. Hafner, 66, passed away on Wednesday August 20, 2025, with his devoted partner Valerie Baker by his side.
Born October 28, 1958, he was the son of the late Alfred and Marcia (Frye) Hafner.
Known for his warm heart, quick wit, and unforgettable presence, John was the kind of person who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A true car enthusiast and original member of Capital Area Mopars, his passion for automobiles ran deep, which was only matched by his love for his grandchildren. As a dedicated parts manager and a legend in the local car scene, he built lifelong friendships through both his work and hobby.
John was the proud and loving stepfather of Michael (Gabriella) Baker and Jonathan (Helen) Baker, devoted partner of 20 years to Valerie Baker, and an adoring grandfather to Emily, Michael, Camilla, and Joseph—his greatest joys. Known for his generosity, loyalty, and of course, his great hair, he was the kind of man who made life better just by being in it.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, with a time to share memories beginning at 1:30pm, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205.
