John Hager Obituary
John attended school in Janesville and played hockey for the Janesville J-Hawks and three years at Parker High School, before graduating in 1988. He went on to Colorado to earn a degree in gunsmithing. He worked at Piggly Wiggly in Janesville before moving on to GM, where he worked the line.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, baseball, building World War II model tanks, and most of all, hockey. He coached Janesville Youth Hockey for about six years. On Sundays, you could find him enjoying his time with friends at the gun club in Delavan, where he spent many days with his dad. John was a kind-hearted man who never met a stranger. He made friends wherever he went and was a true friend to many.
John is preceded in death by his father, Jim; brother, Justin; sister, Samantha; and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen Hager of Janesville; brother, Jason (Sherri) Hager of Janesville; nephews, Ryan and Liam; extended family, Jim (Bernadine) Nordeng, with whom he lived with; Jarod Shallenberger of Janesville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to thank Monica Duffield, (aka favorite niece) for being a major part of his homecare; Jodi Sowatzke for stepping in to help with his homecare anytime it was needed; Stephanie (nurse) and Sherri (CNA) from Beloit Regional Hospice for the care and compassion shown to John and the family, even for the short time.
At family request, please dress casual for a Celebration of John's Life at 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL HOME, 1618 E. Racine St., Janesville. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL HOME, from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow the service on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. at VFW POST 2306, 2711 S. Afton Rd., Beloit. Paul Nowatzski : I was a class mate and a childhood friend of John at Wilson Elementary school in Janesville. We reconnected again in the late 1980s when we worked together at piggy wiggly. John was a warm hearted easy to get along with person . He will be missed.
