John William Hahn of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at the age of 84. John was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on August 24, 1940, the only child of Que and Clegg Hahn. In 1948, the family moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where John grew up and graduated from College High School in 1958. During high school, he was active in Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts, earning numerous awards, including the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout and the Order of the Arrow. Following graduation, John attended Oklahoma State University, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1966. While at OSU, he began walking closely with the Lord through the influence of Campus Crusade for Christ and the Navigators ministries. It was also at OSU that John met Kaye Holt. The two married on June 6, 1964. Shortly after, John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and the couple moved to Dayton, Ohio, in part with hopes of John being selected for the astronaut program. After his honorable discharge, they moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where John worked in medical research at St. Louis University. During their time there, they welcomed their only child, Kelly. John had many hobbies over the years, including camping, shooting, jeeping, photography, and silversmithing. He was a gifted tinkerer who loved tackling home projects. In June 1980, the Hahns moved to the Beaver Lake area in Rogers, Arkansas, where John purchased a small animal practice, the Animal Hospital of Rogers. A few years later, he began working for the USDA APHIS department as a VMO. While working full-time, John pursued and earned a master's degree in poultry science from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating in 1997. John spent many years traveling Arkansas's back roads, meeting with farmers and their livestock, and served on multiple U.S. task forces addressing disease outbreaks, including brucellosis and avian influenza. He retired from USDA in 2005. John deeply valued his family and his church community. He and Kaye discipled many couples and individuals through Bible studies, both in their home and at Immanuel Baptist Church and Fellowship Bible Church NWA. He also supported Kaye in numerous political ventures in Northwest Arkansas as well as her physical battle with PSP. After Kaye's passing in 2010, Kaye's parents introduced John to Sharon McChesney of Bella Vista. They married in 2013 and enjoyed life on Beaver Lake before moving to Lowell in 2019. John especially treasured his men's Bible study group, which he attended faithfully on Friday mornings for many years. John never met a stranger. He made a point to learn people's names, ask about their lives, and show genuine care. His life was a testimony of integrity, kindness, and faithfulness. John "fought the good fight" and "kept the faith," and he now receives his reward in Heaven through his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. John is survived by his wife, Sharon McChesney of the home; daughter Kelly Lynn (Hahn) Miller and husband Kelly Gene; grandson Jared Miller and wife Haley; a soon-to-be-born great-grandson; granddaughter Allison Miller, all of Rogers, Arkansas; brother-in-love Charlie Holt Jr. and wife Susan of Oklahoma City; and nephew Chaz Holt of Fayetteville, Arkansas. A visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday August 14, 2025, at Nelson-Berna Rogers. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers with burial to follow at Benton County Memorial Park under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Rogers. Yesterday

Having done Scouting in NW Arkansas and lived in Rogers for several years, I know I felt John's impact on the area. He'll be missed but I look forward to a rendezvous someday in heaven.
