John Kevin Harkins, of the Sandridge community, husband of Pam Welch Harkins passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 54. He was born on January 24, 1971, in Orangeburg, to Linda Singletary Harkins and the late John Harkins.
Kevin was high school graduate and worked for Austin Construction. He also proudly served the community as a member of the Sandridge Fire Department for over 30 years.
A devoted family man, Kevin enjoyed bass fishing and hunting and cherished time spent with his family. He was a lifelong member of Sandridge First Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as an ordained deacon.
In addition to his father, Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Annie Lee and Victor Singletary and Marjorie and Henry Harkins, and his uncle, Allen Singletary.
Kevin is survived by his wife; son, Chris Peagler; daughter, Crystal Harkins (Jermane Wells); mother, Linda Harkins; sister, Karen Poston (Mike); nieces Amanda Callahan (Patrick) and Lyndsay Poston; nephew Gary Poston; uncles Charles Singletary (Laraine), Wayne Singletary (Martha), Bill Harkins (Wendy), Steve Harkins (Lamae), and Ronnie Harkins (Marianne); aunts Peggy Hilton (James), Faye Brownlee and Margie Wheeler; great-nephews; and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Avinger Funeral Home, 2274 Eutaw Road, Holly Hill, South Carolina.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, 11:00 AM at Sandridge First Baptist Church, State Road, Ridgeville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jody Welch, Jonathan Welch, Kyle Clark, Nathan Skinner, Patrick Callahan, Jim Brownlee, Ken Brownlee, and Paul Brownlee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sandridge First Baptist Church.
