John W. Hazelwood, Jr., born in March 1948 in Kingston, Tennessee went to his Heavenly home on January 28, 2026. John was a Vietnam veteran, serving as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Thompson of Rockwood; second wife, Debra James Hazelwood of Harriman; parents, John W. Sr & Billie Jo Hazelwood of Kingston; grandparents, Tom & Ella Hazelwood, and Luther & Osa Guffey, all of Kingston; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Tony) Rios of Florida; Wendy Hazelwood of Coalfield; Heather Lawson of Harriman; Justin (Lisa) Hazelwood of Rockwood; grandchildren, Dylan (Macy) Brown of Knoxville, Lucas Brown (fiancé, Taylor Oathout & son, Liam Farber) of Knoxville, Morgan Wolfenbarger of Coalfield, Jazmine & Jerney Rios of Arizona, Keaton Jones (fiancé, Grace Brown) of Harriman, Carly Lawson of Harriman, Roman & Mayzee Rios of Arizona; great-grandchildren, Grant Tinker of Coalfield, Kylie & Kaydeen Brown of Knoxville, River Kimball of Knoxville, Ivy Lewis of Harriman; sisters, Judy Hazelwood of Kingston, Joy (Oliver) Brewer of Nashville.

Per request of Mr. Hazelwood, there will be no public viewing/visitation or public graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or by calling 888-448-3997.

So sorry for this news. Although I'd lost contact with John the last few years, he has always been a good friend from way back when. John was a fine police officer and one heck of a truck driver and I'm sure he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences to John's family for their loss.
