John Heffernan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joseph F Nardone Funeral Home - Peekskill on Mar. 27, 2026.
John (Jack) William Heffernan, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in Palm Harbor, Florida. He was born on February 1, 1930, in Peterborough, Canada, and resided in Peekskill, NY until 1976.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career in the construction industry, where he was known for his craftsmanship and dedication. He contributed to the development of numerous commercial buildings, leaving behind a lasting mark through his work.

After retirement, Jack continued to serve others by dedicating his time and skills to his church, assisting with maintenance and various projects. His strong work ethic and commitment to service were evident throughout every stage of his life.

Jack was especially known for his attention to detail-a quality that defined both his professional achievements and his personal character. He took pride in doing things the right way and was admired for his reliability and integrity.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah Heffernan, who passed away in 2018.

John is survived by his sons, David Heffernan and John Heffernan Jr.; his five grandchildren, Billy Heffernan (spouse, Natasha Heffernan), Dana Heffernan, Danielle Heffernan, Deanne Heffernan, and Daniel Heffernan (spouse, Faith Heffernan); and his seven great-grandchildren, Anastasia Heffernan, Billy Heffernan Jr., Justyn Stubblefield, Sean Stubblefield, Erik Stubblefield, Amelia Heffernan, and Emma Heffernan.

He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the lasting impact of his hard work and generosity. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the strong foundation he built for his family.
