John Jason Hill, age 95 of Asheboro, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
John was born on January 25, 1929 in Randolph County to Chester and Jennie Robbins Hill. He was a lifelong resident of Randolph County and graduated from Farmer High School. John was the manager of the shoe department with Belk’s for 22 years. He then worked as a shoe salesman for Craddock Terry Shoe Company out of Lynchburg, VA for ten years. After he left the shoe business, he purchased his own truck and was a truck driver for 20 years. When he wasn’t working, John loved to garden, play golf, watch racing, and to read. John was a strong spirited, determined individual who was always known for being well dressed. Most importantly of all, John loved and adored his family and loved his Lord and Savior. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his three brothers, Henry Linthicum, Charles Hill, and Earl Hill; and one infant sister.
John is survived by his wife of 77 years, Mary S. Hill of the home; daughter, Vickie Smith (Frank) of Denton; grandson, Jason F. Smith (LeAnn) of Denton; brother, Robert C. “Bobby” Hill of Asheboro; and sister, Margaret Hogan (Thurman) of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 1:00 pm – 1:50 pm at Hopewell Friends Meeting, 2244 Hopewell Friends Road, Asheboro. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ricky Sessoms and Rev. James Pendell officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
