I am so very sorry to learn of John´s passing. My heart goes out to Joann and family for their loss. It is with much sadness I write this, but with a small smile remembering the person he was.
I will always, always remember Johnny´s wit and humor-truly lit up every room he entered. He often stopped by my mom´s house for a quick visit and to share a laugh with "Aunt Louise." He had her in stitches-she loved him! She would say "Hirschmann makes me bust a gut", which, in retrospect, was a great relationship; Louise got the uplifting humor she loved and Johnny got the audience. Watching the two of them together was a joy. Johnny was also much loved by his " Uncle Eddie", my dad. Ed looked out for John here in Michigan. I think he felt fatherly to all his nephews, but with John, he had no choice but to laugh with him. It brought my dad out of his serious side and I had never seen my parents laugh as much as when they were with him.
Johnny was my first cousin and also my godfather, as-is Joann my godmother. I will always be grateful for their support when my dad died. They were at the hospital with us which was of great comfort. Both of them participated in the funeral mass and we were humbled that they did. When my mom passed, Johnny was a pallbearer, along with his son Dave who is my parent´s godson. He had physical difficulties, but was determined to honor Aunt Louise. I saw the struggle but will forever remember his effort.
I loved Johnny. Many, many did. He was truly one in a million.
Rest in Peace.
