John David Hoffman, 42, passed away on July 11, 2025.

John was born in Lexington on June 7, 1983 and grew up in Durham, North Carolina where he graduated from Riverside High School. He went on to attend East Carolina University and then received his Associate's Degree from Carteret Community College. He worked for over ten years at Montaplast of North America. He thoroughly enjoyed the work, camaraderie, and friends he made there, especially the team who worked for him, and was able to continue working throughout almost the entire duration of his cancer treatments.

John was an avid University of Kentucky fan, especially basketball, having all the UK garb that any hard-core fan could have and a huge television so that he could really enjoy his Kentucky teams' games. He also enjoyed cooking and had a great interest in history.

In January of 2024, John was diagnosed with stage four metastatic colon cancer. He fought valiantly against that horrible disease until it took his short life just a year and a half later.

John was the son of Margaret Jurek Larson and the late Charles C. Hoffman, the step-son of Michael T. Larson, Sr., and the father of 2-year-old Isabella.

He is survived by his half-sister Jennifer Fine of Raleigh, NC, step-sisters Christina L. High (Bryan) of Charlotte, NC and Samantha L. McHale (Rich) of Wayne, NJ; and step-brothers Michael T. Larson of Snead's Ferry, NC and Joseph P. Larson (Michelle) of Durham, NC.

He also leaves behind an uncle, David Jurek (Lane) and an aunt, Beth Jurek, both of Frankfort, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, July 18th at Rogers Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm.

Contributions in John's memory are suggested to Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice), the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choosing.
