John Ivy Hoffpauir, 69, of Gonzales, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023. He was born August 2, 1953 in Orange, Texas the son of Woodrow Wilson Hoffpauir and Dorothy Gertrude Youngmann Hoffpauir. He married Laura Elaine Billings on May 17, 1985.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gonzales and was a member of the Men's Fellowship Band at the church. He worked with Luling Chevrolet for many years and retired as the dealership finance manager. He later opened Johnny's Cajun Café in Gonzales along with Johnny's Cajun Food Truck, which serves local events.
He was an accomplished fiddle player and played with the "Pilgrim Heirs" at the Pilgrim Community Center. Along with his love of cooking and music, he raised horses on his ranch and enjoyed leather work, a craft he passed along to his grandson. Most of all he treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, and many friends. He touched many lives and was known for his magnetic personality. He never met a stranger. He gave everyone a nickname, friends and family alike. He will forever be remembered as the eternal optimist with his saying "Is Gonna Be Alright".
He is survived by his wife Elaine of Gonzales; daughters: Theresa Gongora, Laura Gongora and Dorothy Carol McLaughlin and husband Ryan all of Gonzales; sons: Vincent Gongora and wife Julie of Sour Lake, TX and Jason Gongora and wife Gena of Warren, TX. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gene Hoffpauir and Larry Hoffpauir.
Private Family Services to be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made, in memory of Johnny, to: The First Baptist Church Helping Ministry or the FBC Joybells.
